Madakasira village was under dynasty of Sri Krishna Devaraya. It is a historical place and also adjacent to Penugonda, which is kingdom of Sri Krishna Devaraya. It is not only historical place but also mythological tales to the temples surrounded to this village. It is near to famous Lepakshi Temple, Pavagada, NagulaMadaka, Hemavathi Temple and the holy place of Ratnagiri. The Simhamoothikonda is an ornament to this college. Apart from this, there is a Mitta Banda Anjaneya Swamy Temple beside the College. The Devotees of the Village people constructed a very big Sai Baba Temple in this area. For the welfare of the people, King Sri Krishna Devaraya constructed lake at nearby Hare Samudram village. Madakasira village is called 2nd Ooty over It ‘s very cool and beautiful atmosphere .The village population is approximately 32000.Recently, the village upgraded as Municipality.There are number of Educational Institutions established in this area.When we consider the educational saga that began with the birth of Sri Shantamma Y. Thimma Reddy Government UG & PG College situated at Madakasira Village, AnanthapurDistrcit. It is established during the year 1991.
Turning back the pages of history of Madakasira, surging enthusiasm and scintilling hunger strike by Mr. A. Ravi Shankar Naidu and other students contributed to the rise of Govt. Degree College at Madakasira to provide the education to the poor students.
Welfare of the Poor students Sri Y. Thimma Reddy, Ex-MI.A donated huge amount of Rs. 6.5 Lakhs to this College. Because of the Chief Donor, the college was named as SYTR Govt. College. The Govt. of A.P. issued, GO. No. 301 dated (04-09.1992 on this name.
The College campus is surrounded in 8 Acres of land. and huge buildings were constructed for 15 Class Rooms and 3 Labs and 10 individual Departments. There is a big Indoor Stadium constructed under the Sponsorship of Sports Authority of India. The big Seminar Hall was constructed in the name of first Principal of Sri. K. Nagappa. AnotherCriteria of this College is, providing Hostel with all facilities to 400 Male students. Many Educational Institutions are inter-related to this college ie. 1)Horticulture Polytechnic 2)Veterinary Polytechnic 3). Agriculture Polytechnic 4)Govt.Polytechnic 5) AgricultureEngineering.
The Hon'ble Andhra Pradesh Chief ministerSri.Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy garu formallyinaugurated in the year 1996. The college was started Arts & Commerce UG Course.After very next year, stone laid for new building by Sri .J.C.DiwakarReddyGaru, Minister for Roads &Buildings,Govt. of Andhra Pradesh on 30-11-1992. During the tenure of Sri. Y.T. Prabhakar Reddy as MLA. The UG Courses of science B.Sc.(MPC &BZC) were also started as per G.O.Ms. No. 235 Dated.,09-09-1997 .
The College secretary Sri. S.N. Krishnamuthy and other Hon’ble members of the committee Iike Sri Gundumala Thippeswamy collected the donations up toRs.25 lakhs for the construction of new building.In 1999-2004 Sri. N. Raghuveera Reddy garu,put in efforts and got Government grants up to Rs.26 lakhs for the construction of class rooms and science labs on the ground floor.In 2004-05, again with the efforts of Sri. N. RaguveeraReddy garu, the Government sanctioned Rs. 50 lakhs. For the first floor buildings. These buildings were inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy garu on 26-06-2004.Buiildings were constructed and handed over by R& B department on 26- 12-2007.
Our Institution has a pride of place in the society and enjoys the confident of the public at large. Today there are 24 Lecturers and 5 Administrativestaff are working together for inculcating a holistic vision and value based life attitude among students.The longest legacy of the institution is always there was backdrop for all activities which aim at shaping the students as socially responsible citizens to the Nation.

As Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan rightly said, the aim of colleges and universities should be to create individuals who are masters not only of technology but also of the of living with a compassionate heart.
